Tell us a little bit about your company.
Measuring Unit Enterprise works in the field of oil and gas as an agent for some US companies representing them in Saudi Arabia. The core business is supplying instrumentations for the oil and gas industry to measure flow, level, and control all hydrocarbons - upstream to downstream.
What is unique about your business?
I don’t think my business is unique. However, I’m trying to do things right. Aside from the high-quality products we are supplying, I always maintain a competitive prices range, quick delivery, support to the customers’ demands, responsiveness to resolve any issue with my customers in a timely manner. I think I understand the industry we serve because consequences are considerably high if the highest level of commitment is not practiced.
As a business owner, what are your top three priorities?
Growth, development, and sustainability.
How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
I used to work in this field for 4 years prior to starting my business.
What was your mission at the outset?
What I couldn’t do as an employee, I would do it as a business owner.
Is this where you thought you would end up?
It is a long runway. I have not seen the finish line yet.
To what do you attribute your success?
God’s will. And then acknowledging the weaknesses.
What’s one thing you see small business owners failing to do?
It’s hard for me to judge vaguely or based on a general atmosphere. But I can say this, small business owners should be doing and observing daily activities. It helps to know where the business is heading to.
If Measuring Unit Enterprise could achieve just one goal in the next 12 months, what would it be?
Winning several upcoming projects.
How did you hear about Servcorp?
Through a friend.
How long have you been a Servcorp client, and what has impressed you the most about our service?
It is been more than 4 years. I have visited several offices in the Servcorp chain. In each office, I still believe that the high standards and great internal company culture can be seen clearly in Servcorp teams which are very supportive teams.
What has been the biggest benefit you’ve experienced as a result of working with Servcorp?
When I get to the office. My business activities become the only concern. Because I know there is always someone at Servcorp has already done what it should be to accommodate the office for us.
What advice would you give to the next generation of leaders?
I’m certainly not the right person to give any advice of any kind, but generally speaking, I would say, life is hard, tough, and exhausting. It knocks people down but some people choose to get back up again. The road to success and glory is as wide as a road to failure and shame. We all can fit on either road, but people have to choose one of them. Choose what fits you.
What’s an accomplishment that you are most proud of?
Being a business owner feels good on its own. Solving some technical challenges to my major customer which I had been through, is highly considered an accomplishment.
How do you balance work and life responsibilities?
I don’t think I do. There is always imbalance, my work takes most of my time. But I try to maintain things to be balanced as possible as I can.
What have you sacrificed (both personally and professionally) during your career?
No one can have it all. Everyone has to give up or sacrifice something in order to get something else in return. To me, sacrifice comes with regret and sadness, I don’t feel or think this way. But if I have to answer this, I “sacrificed” what wasn’t meant to be part of me and gain what is meant to be me. I choose me and what I have been through every time.
If you had to start over from scratch, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently?
No. I have done things at the best possible way giving the circumstances.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Never take advice from anyone. People are different, with different mindsets, circumstances, and environments. Whatever worked for me, unnecessarily works for anyone else. Be yourself, do things the way you think is right, if you want, listen to other’s experiments and experiences and resize what you think suits you
